The Art Guild invites the public to attend a reception and awards ceremony for Travels and Destinations: Near and Far, a juried competition and exhibition on Sunday, March 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. On exhibit are 54 diverse artworks by 49 artists that take us on a journey around the world—from New York to China, Italy, New Zealand, India, Cuba and more.
Artists included in the show are: Mindy Atkin, Diane Bares, Mary Blair, Elaine Cook, Susanne Corbelletta, Caryn Coville, Aleta Crawford, Kathy D’Amato-Smith, Diana De Santis, Cori Forster, Ivan Frisch, Maxine Geller, Liliana Hecker, Susan Herbst, Grace Heske, John Hirsch, Shelley Holtzman, Bennett Horowitz, Frances Ianarella, Diane Kaufmann, Maureen Klemes, Karin Kneitel, Bruce Laird, A.L. Lasda, Ruth Lerner, Donna Litke, Mieke McLaughlin, Marion McManus, Charles Messite, Deborah Miller, Melba Molson, Nancy Mone, Anthony Monitto, Robin Moore, Annette Proimos, Doris Roberts, Linda Ruden, Gia Schifano, Ilene Silberstein, Barbara Silbert, Barbara Spivak, Barbara Stein, Alacia Stubbs, Robert Stuhmer and Margo Vignola.
The juror-of-awards is Paul David Elsen. Elsen studied drawing and painting under the late Irwin “Greeny” Greenberg and portrait painter and illustrator Max Ginsburg, as well as, Paul Bachem, Howard Rose, Marc Josloff and Rob Silverman. He has exhibited extensively on Long Island—from the Huntington Arts Council and the National Art League to solo exhibits in various libraries.
The exhibit will be on view at The Art Guild’s home, Nassau County’s Historic Elderfields Preserve, 200 Port Washington Blvd. in Manhasset, from Saturday, March 5, through Sunday, April 3. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. or by appointment.
Spring classes for children and adults will start in April. Among the offerings are Wednesday and Saturday classes for children and Life Drawing, Oil Painting and Watercolor classes for adults. Workshops and other events for late spring and summer, including CreArtive, a day of art exploration
for children on Aug. 22, are being planned as well.
