Is Starbucks Poisoning Our Children And Our Town

Letters To The EditorIf you happened to be on Plandome Road this past Friday in the vicinity of Starbucks Coffee,
you probably wondered what the horrific smells coming out of the Starbucks Coffee property were. You could barely walk within a full block of the store without being sickened by the odor.
Well, this Friday, and virtually every week of late, Starbucks was allowing its cesspool water empty onto our streets and actually create a river of urine and feces for our children to walk through and adults in automobiles to drive through and spread around our town. I personally witnessed this and reported it to Starbucks and the Town of North Hempstead. People, especially our children, were actually walking in the puddles of urine, etc. and then going into Starbucks to consume drinks and food. The volume of urine was so great that it actually flowed off the property and created a river running down Bayview Avenue. When I reported this to the store manager, he told me that no one on-site had the authority to close the store and went back to endangering the health of customers and our town.
This is not a one-time occurrence. On the contrary, it is a weekly event. I have spoken with senior management at Starbucks over several weeks and always receive the same empty assurances about how they are correcting the problem. This week, the Town of North Hempstead finally issued a summons to Starbucks thanks to the quick action of Judi Bosworth’s (Town of North Hempstead supervisior) office after I reported the danger. Even with that, Starbucks continued to operate with no efforts at a cleanup having been taken.
I personally will stop giving my business to Starbucks as they clearly have no concern about sickening our children or other patrons. They apparently authorize their managers to collect our money, but not to protect the health of our children and the town.
Join me in boycotting Starbucks and demanding that the Town of North Hempstead Health Department close down this store.
