The Walt Whitman Birthplace Association hosts two speakers, on Sunday, April 3, who will lend their voices to political topics currently playing out on the national stage.
The speakers will include Linda Hirshman, lawyer and cultural historian, who will present her book, Sisters In Law: How Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg Went to the Supreme Court and Changed the World; and Dr. Stanley B. Klein, author and a source for in-depth analysis of local and national government. Both speakers will offer their thought-provoking look at women’s voices in politics and the evolution of the GOP, from the party of Lincoln to its current state.
Besides authoring five books, Hirshman has had her work published in the New York Times, The Washington Post and more, while Klein, who currently teaches government and politics at LIU Post, has written three books on American foreign policy.
The presentations are part of the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association’s 2016 series, Democratic Vistas, Voices of Democracy and is sponsored by the New York Council for the Humanities.
