On Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. at Old Grace Church (4755 Merrick Road, Massapequa), there will be a lecture on the historic William Floyd estate.
After a short general business meeting of the Historical Society of the Massapequas, there will be a lecture by Mary Laura Lamont from 2 pm to 3 pm.
Mary Laura Lamont will speak about the William Floyd Estate located in Mastic at the Saturday April 16 meeting of the Historical Society of the Massapequas. She is a National Park Service Ranger who has extensive knowledge about the Estate and about the Floyd family. The topic is especially appropriate because William Floyd signed the Declaration of Independence and because his cousin Richard married Arabella Jones, thus creating the Floyd-Jones name that was so influential in the Massapequas.
All are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Lee S. Gundel, trustee of the Historical Society of the Massapequas at 516-799-2023.
