Two student-artists from Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington are being featured in the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County’s annual art exhibit this spring.
Every year, the HMTC invites middle and high school student-artists to participate in the exhibit, which centers on a theme of social justice, tolerance and respect for diversity. Participating students have the opportunity to showcase their creative talents while reflecting their understanding of history. Schreiber senior Diego Espinoza submitted a charcoal self-portrait drawing that embraces this year’s HMTC theme, “Reflecting Back, Looking Forward.” Junior Diane Werth submitted a collage of analog black and white prints with words stating the theme. Diego is taught by Miranda Best, Diane by Kris Murphy.
Both works will be on display at the HMTC’s Welwyn Preserve located at 100 Crescent Beach Road in Glen Cove through June. Regular hours are weekdays, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and weekends/holidays, 12-4 p.m. For more information, call 516-571-8040.
