Welcome To The Renaissance

Something RottenBroadway audiences have been enchanted by Something Rotten! for a full year and there is no end in sight for the spellbinding musical. A tale of two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, and their rivalry with superstar and heartthrob Will Shakespeare, Something Rotten! takes theatregoers on a tour through Elizabethan Age England, with a modern slant.

The show opened at the St. James Theatre on April 22, 2015, to rave reviews. The talented cast included the well-known stage and screen actors Brian d’Arcy James and Christian Borle, as well as John Cariani, Heidi Blickenstaff, Brad Oscar and Kate Reinders, who all remain in their original roles.

“The show is populated with some of the best comic actors on Broadway,” said Cariani, who plays Nigel Bottom, a playwright who idolizes Shakespeare while his brother despises him. “It’s fully committed to giving the audience a joyous experience.”

Something Rotten! celebrated its first anniversary on April 22, marking 400 performances and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. To honor the occasion, the Bottom brothers themselves appeared in front of the St. James before the show to draw names for a special live lottery—a true thrill for fans.
