A New Cassel man was arrested after stabbing and assaulting two men on Thursday, April 28 at 6:58 p.m.
According to police, William O. Diaz, 23, was involved in a verbal argument with two male neighbors ages 18 and 24 in front of his residence. The argument escalated and Diaz stabbed the 18 year old male with a metal landscape rod causing a laceration to his abdomen. He then struck the second male in the head causing a laceration. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Third Precinct officers responded and placed Diaz under arrest without incident.
Diaz is charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned Friday, April 29 at First District Court in Hempstead.
