LeRoy Doxey, lifelong resident of Westbury, passed on May 2, at the age of 96. Doxey served in the United States Army during WWII where he received the American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He retired from the Westbury Post Office, where he was often called the “Whistling Mailman.” Doxey was a 68 year member of the Westbury Fire Department, co-founder and past president of the NYS Fire Police Association, and past Commander of the James F. Walsh Post 945 VFW. Beloved husband of the late Eileen. Devoted father of Doreen Talbot (Vincent), Lorraine Eisemann (Steven Elsner), Trina Charles (Billy), Donna Doxey (Keven Keuer), Carol Normandin (Jeffrey), and Lisa Katulka (Stephen). Cherished grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather of many. Loving brother of Isabelle Vernon and the late Irene Seidel, Madeleine Vidal, Vera Duncan, Kenneth Doxey and Ralph Doxey.
