Following a nonfiction unit on animals, first-grade students in Mrs. Wilson’s class at Meadow Drive School became experts on their researched animal and created a living zoo.
To prepare for the event, students visited a zoo and learned about exhibits and the type of information that a zoo provided on each animal. First-graders then created costumes at home and presented their information in a zoo-like format for visitors. Visitors included other students from the building, who came to learn fun facts about various different animals.
