The Plainedge School District, with help from parents and residents, passed the budget for the 2016-17 school year with a vote of 1,342 to 430. The capital reserve fund was approved in a 1,372 to 363 vote.
“Thank you to our residents who voted and demonstrated their support for the district’s 2016-17 budget. Our community continually demonstrates its commitment to educational excellence and devotion to our children,” said Dr. Edward A. Salina, Superintendent of Schools for the Plainedge School District. “We remain dedicated to providing a robust education for our students and ensuring their preparedness to enter the 21st century workforce.”
As for the board of education trustee election, challenger MaryAnn Karageorges (983 votes) defeated incumbent Douglas Pascarella (675 votes) for one seat, while incumbent Raymond Paris (1,414 votes) was elected to the other.
