From May 11 to 13, the eighth grade students embarked on an incredible adventure to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. They had a fantastic time meeting politicians, visiting monuments, exploring museums, and experiencing the culture of one of the most important cities in the world. We are proud that students had such a
great time and that these memories will last a lifetime.
Highlights of the trip included: Arlington National Cemetery, President John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy’s Memorial, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Changing of the Guard, Iwo Jima Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Ford’s Theater, World War II Memorial, Visit and photo with Congressman Peter King on the steps of the Capitol, Supreme Court Building, Holocaust Museum, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and the Air and Space Museum/Museum of Natural History/Museum of American History.

Studies at ITMMS, for organizing this fantastic experience for the eighth grade students. Thank you to Mrs. Steele and Mrs. Azar for coordinating the on-site experiences and to the staff who chaperoned this incredible trip and helped to provide memories to last a lifetime. Thank you to the eighth grade students for being such a respectful group of young men and women who represented Island Trees with the utmost dignity.
