Farmingdale HS holds Wall of Fame ceremony
The Farmingdale High School recently held its Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The ceremony honors alumni who have gone on to achieve extraordinary success in their profession. This year’s class consisted of:
Lieutenant Colonel Carl A. Curriera
Graduated 1984
With a Bachelor’s Degree from The U.S. Military Academy and a Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Management from Webster’s University, Curriera also graduated from Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. During his extensive military career, he has served our country throughout the world and earned the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (6th Award), Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge, among other decorations and awards.
Timothy Kubart
Graduated 2002
As the host of NBC Universal’s Sprout Channel television show Sunny Side Up, Kubart performs in sketches and sings songs to a national audience of preschoolers each weekday from Rockefeller Plaza alongside celebrity guests. Kubart is a talented musician, actor and voiceover artist who earned a 2016 Grammy Award for his children’s album called Home. In addition to launching a high-quality music education program for children and teachers, Kubart moonlighted on NBC as a house musician for three seasons on America’s Got Talent, which was televised live from Radio City to 12 million people nationwide.
Captain Kenneth A. Niederberger
Graduated 1986
Niederberger, a 1990 graduate from the United States Naval Academy, was designated a SEAL in 1991 and is considered by his peers to be “one of our nation’s finest warriors.” He was deployed numerous times to combat zones worldwide supporting various joint operations. During his career, Niederberger was awarded the Silver Star, five Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation, Navy Commendation and two Navy Medals, plus several combat action and campaign ribbons.
George (Butch) Starkie
Graduated 1975
A successful owner and operator of four horticulture businesses, has served as a member of the Long Island Farm Bureau and on the Board of Farmingdale State College’s Department of Horticultural and Design Committee. After 35 years of experience in business management, fiscal oversight, public service and community relations, Starkie was elected trustee for the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale in 2006 and village mayor in 2008. As a local business owner, resident and elected official, Starkie has dedicated himself to the Farmingdale community.
