The work of local artists from the Garden Art Studio in Mineola is now on display at the Walter and Joan Hobbs art gallery in the Mineola library until the end of May.
The work is part of the art studio’s annual art show. High school students have oversized celebrity illustrations and mandala art, inspired during a recent mindful meditation workshop, on display. Grade school students have mini art easels, creative thinking illustrations, mixed media still lifes and frisbee art on exhibit. Master artist and art director Lisa Fazio also has fine art featured in oils and watercolors of flowers and local landscapes, including the famous sunflowers from out east. Fazio’s students have been showing their work for more than 20 years. The Garden Art Studio allows art students of all ages the chance to learn more about their creative side. According to Fazio, the average student take classes at the studio between five to 12 years.
“Our goal is to help people fit art into their busy schedules and make time to relax and discover their creative side, even if it’s just for a day,” Fazio said. “Class size is limited so individual attention is maximized. Each student has fun and discovers feeling their own depth of their own talent.”
The studio is currently offering one-day adult workshops called creativity with a Zen twist, where adult students can learn how to journal, learn about essential oils and create their own meditation mandalas, paint retro record art and more. They also offer a summer art camp for young artists the last week of June.
