Yaphank Man Fatally Hit by Car

A 55-year-old Yaphank man was fatally hit by a car in Mastic on Friday afternoon.

Suffolk County police said Louis Stellato was walking on the side of Mastic Road when a southbound Toyota 4Runner collided with a westbound Chevrolet Cavalier at the corner of Meadowmere Avenue, causing the SUV to overturn, hitting Stellato at 12:15 p.m

The victim was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead. The drivers and one passenger involved were not injured.

Seventh Squad detectives impounded the vehicles, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-852-8752.
