At its May 26 Board of Education Meeting, the Herricks Public Schools appointed Dina Maggiacomo as executive director for human resources, effective July 1. She will be working closely with faculty and staff members, providing support to both the operations and instructional components of the district.
Maggiacomo has extensive experience in managing employee relations and developing environments in which teachers, administrators and district staff collaborate to drive improvement. She has served as the Executive Director for Human Resources in the Massapequa Public School District since 2011, prior to which she held roles as an educational leader and staff developer with Nassau BOCES. In her decade-long career with BOCES, Ms. Maggiacomo served as Department of Human Resources, Supervisor II, Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Professional Developer and Distance Education Coordinator. Earlier on, she was a teacher at schools located on Long Island and in Philadelphia.
Maggiacomo holds a B.A. from SUNY Fredonia, an M.A. from Stony Brook University and School District Administration Certification from the College of St. Rose. She has created a number of professional development presentations for various publications, workshops and other events in the education field. Ms. Maggiacomo also serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Long Island Association of School Personnel Administrators (LIASPA).
