General Douglas MacArthur High School has a drainage culvert that is located between the turf field and the lower grass fields. This culvert is currently overgrown with vegetation and debris and water from drainage or rainfall is impeded and has resulted in pools of stagnant water which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
With the current outbreak of the Zika virus, all mosquito habitats should be addressed. Hundreds of students and families congregate around the area for the various athletic activities during and after school and on weekends. It is time for a thorough cleanup.
