Levittown’s Salk Middle School administration honored Mathletes Club members for their math skills and sportsmanship during this year’s competitions. Consisting of students in grades 6-8, Mathletes is an enrichment club where students learn how to approach and solve various math problems. During in-house competitions, the club challenged the students’ math skills, developed their self-confidence and rewarded them for their achievements and ability to develop problem-solving strategies.
Top scorers were sixth-grader William Valinotti, who earned 10 points out of a possible 30 points for the year. Seventh-grade students Emily Zhang earned 19 points out of a possible 30 points for the year, while eighth-grader Ben Horowitz earned 14 points out of a possible 30 points for the year. In addition, eighth-grader Isabella Molina received the Elmer Heinecke Sportsmanship Award.
