Levittown Students Named Rensselaer Medalists

Division Avenue High School junior Annie Tao and MacArthur High School junior James May have both been named Rensselaer Medalists for excellence in mathematics and science. Each award will receive a $15,000 per year merit scholarship if he or she decides to enroll at the prestigious Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

During the 2015- 16 school year, Annie enrolled in Advanced Placement courses and the Accelerated Pre-Calculus for College Credit course. In addition to being a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society and the school’s Science Research Program, Annie plays the xylophone and marimba in the marching band. She is also a badminton conference champion and runs on Division Avenue High School’s cross-country team.

James is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M, world language and math honor societies. He is enrolled in MacArthur High School’s Science Research Program and is a member of Mathletes. In addition to his studies, James is a clarinetist with the marching band and orchestra and was designated as an All-County musician.
