Levittown-Island Trees 68th Installation Of Post Officers

On June 4, the Levittown-Island Trees Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9592 conducted their 68th Installation of Post Officers. Past Commander Barry Scheu, performing the duties of installation off

icer administered the oath to the following incoming 2016-17 to the following Post Officers: Commander-Mathew DeGregrio, Senior Vice Commander-Peter Stasinski, Junior Vice Commander-Fred Wedin, Quartermaster-Rich Hensl, Judge Advocate-Kerin Howard, Chaplain-John Turino and Surgeon Michael Piedmont.

More than 100 people were in attendance, including Nassau County Legislature and Post #9592 Past Commander Dennis Dunne, to witness this time honored tradition that is performed in every VFW Post throughout the country from the local to the national level. At the conclusion of this ceremony the current commander, Jim Flynn, relinquished control of the gavel, a symbol of trust, authority and leadership, to the installation officer. The installation officer then presented the incoming Commander, Matthew DeGregrio, the gavel to signify that under his leadership the Post will continue forward into the next year.
