New York Blood Center has issued an emergency appeal for blood donations. Giving blood will ensure that area hospitals have the blood they need for scheduled transfusions as well as emergencies.
Mindy Davison is hosting the Runner’s Edge Community Blood Drive with NYBC on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. All are invited to give blood and help maintain the blood supply during the current blood emergency, as donations are lower than expected this summer.
Come out, see friends and save lives at Runner’s Edge, 242 Main St., Farmingdale and bring your NYBC Donor Card or other signature/photo ID. Donors must be between 16-76 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and not have gotten a tattoo (if done in New York state) in the past 12 months. Please eat and drink before donating. All donors will receive a coupon for a large sandwich from Long Island McDonald’s.
For eligibility questions, call 1-800-688-0900. For additional information or to make an appointment, call Mindy Davidson at 516-359-9409 or mindyruns@aol.com
