History was made last week as former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was the first woman to win the nomination for President of the United States from a major political party at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Held at the Wells Fargo Center from July 25 to 28, U.S. House of Representatives Marcia Louise Fudge of Ohio was the chair of the convention and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts was the keynote speaker.

Clinton was endorsed by President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, daughter Chelsea Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama, primary rival Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and running mate Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, who won the vice presidential nomination.

Several local officials, including Democratic State Committeewoman Lee Seeman, National Democratic Committeeman Robert Zimmerman, Congressman Steve Israel and Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli were in attendance.
