The University at Albany congratulates more than 3,000 students who were named to the spring 2016 Dean’s List for earning at least a 3.5 GPA. Mary Hearon of Hicksville was among the 551 students who earned Dean’s List honors for the spring 2016 semester at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. Mary, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hearon, was eligible for this honor by maintaining a 3.4 GPA or higher.

Jessica Eleanor Munn of Hicksville, a senior majoring in aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering, was named a Presidential Scholar for the spring 2016 semester at Clarkson University. Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.8 GPA.

Alyssa Guidice of Hicksville qualified for the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester at the SUNY College of Technology at Delhi. To qualify, a student must have an academic average of 3.50 or higher within the semester.

Emily Tuszynski of Hicksville received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Saint Vincent College in Latobe, PA. She was a Women in Business Club member, Finance Club member, Respect Life Club member, volunteer note-taker, two-year varsity softball member, two-year Student Athlete Advisory Committee member and Saint Vincent DePaul Store volunteer. Tuszynski was a 2012 graduate of Hicksville High School. She attends Saint Ignatius in Hicksville and plans to work for a professional sports team.

Alexis Ton of Hicksville made the Dean’s List at the Rochester Institute of Technology for the spring 2016 semester. Ton is studying new media marketing and qualified by having a term GPA of 3.4 and better.

Dylan Smith of Hicksville was one of 21 students from Susquehanna University who recently spent time in Hawaii as part of the university’s Global Opportunities (GO) program. It gave students the opportunity to visit ‘Iolani Palace, Pearl Harbor and Volcanoes National Park; learn Hawaiian traditions such as poi making, hula and the luau; and participate in service projects with native Hawaiians. Smith is a communications-digital multimedia-sports media major in the Class of 2018. A 2010 graduate of Hicksville High School, he is the son of Robert and Theresa Smith.

Megan McNamee of Hicksville earned Dean’s List honors at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia for the Spring 2016 semester. McNamee studies interdisciplinary health services and qualified for the list by achieving a GPA of 3.5 or better.
