Grace Sanders of Mineola, passed away on Aug. 19, 2016, at the age of 90. Grace and her husband Lou founded the Mineola American in 1952. Grace was the business manager for 40 years until the newspaper was sold to Anton in 1992. She continued to edit her husband’s popular column, “Around Town with Lou.” Grace, who lived in Stewart Manor, was a graduate of Adelphi College cum laude with a degree in business administration. Before her marriage to Lou in 1948, she worked in the business office of Sewanhaka High School. The couple lived in Binghamton when Lou worked for the Binghamton Press. They moved to their home in Mineola in 1953. She leaves two sons, Richard (Laurie) and Thomas (Deborah), and a daughter, Sister Annmarie, IHM, and three granddaughters Tracey, Kimberly and Colleen.
Viewing will be on Sunday, Aug. 21 at Cassidy Funeral Home in Mineola from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service is on Monday, Aug. 22 at Corpus Christi Church at 9:45 a.m.
