Family Fun Time

Register at the library for this program taking place the Thursdays of Sept 15, 22 and 29 at 10 a.m. For ages 1½ -5 accompanied by an adult. Enjoy an interactive hour with your preschooler featuring singing, dancing, storytelling, a craft and more.

Apple Pie Bread

On Thursday, Sept. 1, beginning at 9:15 a.m., Hicksville residents can register online for this class taking place Friday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. Apple pie, an all time favorite, can be made into a delicious moist bread with a streusel topping. Registrants must bring a 9x5x3 pan, large mixing bowl, box grater, and potato peeler. Open registration begins on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 9 a.m. No fee. Limit: 40 adults.

Intermediate Yoga

Online registration begins on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. for eight classes running on Thursdays from Sept. 22 to November 10 at 5:30 p.m. Classes will be held at the Computer & Resource Center. Fee: $35 check or money order. Limit: 24.

Karkowska Sisters Duo

This award-winning, internationally acclaimed ensemble performs extraordinary programs of virtuosity and laughter full of beautiful music, unforgettable stories and humor, creating spectacular entertainment for the entire family. This 2 p.m. concert is presented in cooperation with the Town of Oyster Bay Department of Community and Youth Services, Cultural and Performing Arts Division. No registration required.

Book To Film

Join for a discussion on the novel, The Danish Girl, and how it is brought to life on the big screen. Refreshments will be served. Open to all.

Monday Movie

At 1:30 p.m. the library presents The Danish Girl. Rated R, 120 minutes. With support from his loving wife Gerda (Alicia Vikander), artist Einar Wegener (Eddie Redmayne) prepares to undergo one of the first sex-change operations.

Friday, Sept. 2

Needlework Group

Meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., this group is for anyone who knits, crochets, quilts, embroiders or cross-stiches. Needlework artists of all skill levels are invited to socialize, gain experience, learn and share techniques while working on their own projects. Bring your own supplies to work on your project. All are welcome. No registration is required.

Register in person for this program taking place the Tuesdays of Sept. 6 and 27 at 11 a.m. in the children’s room. For ages 2-3 accompanied by an adult. Twenty minutes of age-appropriate songs and stories for young children.

Meditation

Join Linda Cafiero at 7 p.m. for a relaxing evening of self-discovery. Through the exploration of various meditation techniques, you’ll find the path to your true nature and enjoy a more fulfilling life. Please bring a towel or mat, and a small pillow if you choose to lay on the floor. No registration required.
