Hempstead Murder Suspect Arrested

A suspect has been arrested for allegedly killing a 39-year-old man in Hempstead five months ago, Nassau County police said.

William Lopez, 34, of Hempstead, was charged Friday with second-degree murder.

Homicide Squad detectives alleged that Lopez stabbed Rolando Cruz, of Freeport, following an argument outside of El Nuevo bar on Fulton Avenue at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, April 10.

The victim died of his injuries at a local hospital.

Lopez will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
