The Nassau County Police Department Second Squad arrested David A. Wallach, 19, of Hicksville for an assault which occurred on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 12:40 p.m. in Hicksville.
According to detectives, a male victim, 34, was walking on Atlas Lane with his daughter, 4, who was riding a bicycle. As they approached Wallach’s residence, Wallach was backing out of the driveway. The victim slapped the rear of the car to alert Wallach of their presence, as they were almost struck by the vehicle.
Wallach then exited the vehicle with a baseball bat to come after the victims. The victim was able to wrestle the bat away from him. At this time Wallach ran towards the vivtim’s daughter and knocked her to the ground with his forearm, causing injuries to her back and neck area. The victim picked his daughter up and brought her to safety at a neighbor’s house.
The defendant then went down the street to the victim’s home and proceeded to break two front windows of the home by throwing baseballs through them. The victim’s wife exited the home to see what the loud noise was and was shoved into a car by Wallach, causing an injury to her shoulder area. When officers responded to the scene they located Wallach standing in the street and placed him under arrest without incident. The 4-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment to her injuries.
Wallach was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
