East Islip Woman Crashes Into Building, Dies

A 23-year-old woman died after she crashed her vehicle into a building in her hometown of East Islip on Friday morning.

Suffolk County police said Kerri Becvar was driving a Honda southbound on Carleton Avenue, when her vehicle left the roadway and struck the AmVets building near the corner of Washington Street at 8:42 a.m.

The victim was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where she was pronounced dead.

No one was inside the building, which Town of Islip officials responded to evaluate.
