The 11th annual Cruizin’ For A Cure Car Show was held recently in Hicksville at the Sears parking lot. Founded by Jericho prostate cancer survivor Sandy Kane, it is held during September’s Prostate Cancer Awareness Month to not only boost awareness on the prevalence of this disease but provide men with the means for getting free PSA screenings during the show and promote importance of early detection.
It is the only car show on the East Coast to offer men free on-site PSA screening tests for early prostate cancer detection, and has been responsible for screening more than 3,000 men to date. Of those screened, 126 have been identified with elevated PSA readings and referred to their physicians for follow-up.

Cruizin’ has also donated more than $100,000 to Winthrop-University Hospital and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for prostate cancer research.
Among the highlights of the show was the group Stardust performing an a capella concert, a KidzFunZone featuring a radio-controlled model race car track, a truck full of video arcade games, a face painter and a balloon caricature person. More than 700 cars and vehicles were exhibited. Sponsors included Mobile Fleet, AutoQuip Sales, Vehicle Tracking Solutions, Exotic Classics, Rallye Motor Group, Robert Chevrolet, Westbury Jeep, Levittown Ford, Fiat of Westbury, Grand Prix Subaru, Meenan Oil and PSEGLI.
