The Tony-Award winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be performed by South High School on Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium at 341 Lakeville Rd.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee presents an eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of potentially made-up words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming ding of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves, but at least the losers get a juice box.
During each performance, an intermission reception will benefit the Fran Harman Memorial Scholarship. To purchase tickets to the play or reception, or for more information, visit www.greatnecksouthtickets.com.
