Floral Park’s Centennial Gardens and Bird Sanctuary is the year round home to hundreds of bird species. Providing an easy food sources during severe winters and harsh migration periods and in late winter or early spring, when natural seed sources are depleted is critical in maintaining the bird population. In order assist in, the Conservation Society is looking for donations of bird seed from members and residents alike. The types of seeds needed are wild bird, thistle and suet cakes.
Bird seed donations may be dropped off at the Floral Park Recreation/Pool Building main lobby, Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. As a reminder the Gardens are open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week until Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016.
As of Monday Nov. 28, the Gardens will be closed until April 2017.
