The Great Neck Student Aid Fund (GNSAF) completed its granting season in August, awarding a group of highly motivated, deserving students a leg up in their pursuit of higher education. The process was challenging for them and their families, but these students were undaunted and rewarded for their tenacity. We would love to award many more grants to other deserving students.
Our funding has dwindled due to the economy and the reduction in funding from umbrella organizations, once stalwart resources for the GNSAF, which has been awarding grants for more than 80 years. Our greatest desire is to continue supporting the goal of higher/vocational education for our Great Neck School District students. We need your help to continue our mission.
To assist you in helping the GNSAF while getting some holiday shopping/partying under your belt, we are taking part in the Americana Manhasset/Wheatley Plaza Champions for Charity event from Thursday, Dec. 1, to Sunday, Dec. 4. Most stores and restaurants in both shopping centers are participating. Just go to www.championsforcharity.org, call 516-627-2277 or visit Americana Manhasset’s concierge store, select GNSAF when registering for your Champions for Charity number, and at the completion of your shopping or dining experience, present that number. Both locations will provide the GNSAF 25 percent of your pretax purchase. It’s a win-win. You get to enjoy these lovely establishments and some deserving students will get an opportunity to achieve their goal and then pay it forward by becoming great pillars of their communities.
