Stay warm this winter with stylish shearling outerwear created by Long Island entrepreneur Karen Levitt. The clothing maven has drawn from decades of experience as a top buyer to launch a new line, which has been released just in time to conquer the cold.

“I have been in the fashion industry for 35 years and have always dabbled in production and design,” said the Grenn Pilot owner and CEO. “I have an affinity for outerwear, and the line speaks to everyone. Our audience spans all ages. If you have the attitude, you can wear Grenn Pilot.”

The fashion-industry vet designed the jackets, vests and shawls according to her own style with the quality-seeking, trendsetting woman in mind, incorporating unexpected pairings. The line features dramatic statement outerwear that can be worn casually for days or dressed up for evenings.

“It all boils down to the mindset,” explained the Roslyn Heights business owner. “Nothing has to be fancy.

The pieces are versatile—you can wear them over gym clothes or out to dinner. Most items are reversible, so you get two looks. They have fur on the outside and napa or suede inside—and the pieces can be mixed together.”

The reversible jackets feature a lush, soft and durable shearling exterior and a leather interior. Some are inspired by vintage. Classic coats are reinvented with an infusion of bohemian style to create wear-with-anything pieces that add a sense of effortlessness to any look and elevate any wardrobe.

“Wearing Grenn Pilot makes my whole outfit—and makes me feel luxurious,” said Levitt, who, having grown up in Woodbury, understands what Long Island women are seeking. “I love outerwear, and my line is different from what’s in the stores. I love the versatility of how you wear the pieces, and you’ll keep them forever. The vest is a great layering piece that you can throw a cape over, or you can put it under or over a sweater or down coat—and most everything is available in a huge variety of colors.”
