Earlier this year, North Middle School, at its kick-off to becoming a No Place for Hate School, hosted motivational speaker Gian Paul Gonzalez. He spoke with students at large assembly programs and in a small leadership seminar.
The No Place for Hate School initiative is sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The program provides a model for combating intolerance, bullying and hatred in schools. To become a No Place for Hate School, schools need to form a committee to oversee and promote harmony and respect for differences, officially present the Resolution for Respect and hold three or more activities during the year that celebrate diversity and promote respect. After completing these projects, schools will receive a No Place for Hate banner from the ADL.
South Middle School is also becoming a No Place for Hate School. South High School already has this designation.
