Vals And Sals Of Sewanhaka Central High School District

The Sewanhaka Central High School Board of Education recently recognized the district’s class of 2017 valedictorians and salutatorians.

The high-achieving students were introduced by their respective school principals, who provided information on their outstanding academic, extracurricular and volunteer activities. Congratulations to Floral Park Memorial valedictorian Luke deArmas and salutatorian Aideen Gill, New Hyde Park Memorial valedictorian Rena Fukuda and salutatorian Sam Kooran, and Sewanhaka High School valedictorian Mohammad Samroz and salutatorian Jessica Hernandez.

Each student received a standing ovation from those in attendance. They were also presented with certificates before being commended by Board of Education President David Fowler and Superintendent Dr. Ralph Ferrie.

“If you listen to not only the academic achievements of these brilliant young men and women, but the community involvement, the school involvement —it’s a credit to them and their families,” said Fowler.

“I too want to congratulate these outstanding young men and women, and certainly I want to congratulate the families,” said Ferrie. “We are proud of the way you are not only representing your district and your school today, but how you will represent us in the future.”
