A dead body was found in a vehicle that was found on fire at Jones Beach State Park over the weekend, officials said.

New York State Parks Police officers and Wantagh Fire Department firefighters responded to the blaze in the parking lot of the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater at 5 p.m. Friday, officials said.

After the flames were extinguished, an unidentified person was found in the vehicle.

The body was taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the person’s identity and cause of death.

Police are continuing the investigation into the cause of the fire.
