Hope For The Warriors recently announced being awarded a grant from the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF). Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families.
BWF works to ensure injured veterans and their families are thriving long after they return home. The team at BWF navigates more than 46,000 nonprofit organizations to find and fund innovative programs in communities where post-9/11 veterans, their families and caregivers live and work.
As a grant recipient, Hope For The Warriors joins the Bob Woodruff Foundation grantee network, a collaboration of top-tier programs and advocates investing in the next chapter of our veterans.
“The Bob Woodruff Foundation is one of the pre-eminent organizations tirelessly fighting for improvements in the lives of veterans,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder, president and CEO of Hope For The Warriors. “To join their elite list of nonprofits challenged to do more and do it better is an honor that is hard to put into words. We are eager to utilize this generous grant to help the brave men and women recovering from post-traumatic stress disorder and mild traumatic brain injury.”
The grant will support Hope For The Warriors’ family resiliency services (FRS) program which aims to strengthen service members, veterans and families as they recover from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). The FRS program serves those in need in several ways.
1. Hope locates and refers individuals who need inpatient services to trauma-focused, evidence-based programs that focus on the family.
2. Travel assistance is provided to and from treatment in partnership with veteran-travel programs.
3. In the event of hospital stays, Hope For The Warriors evaluates family circumstances to assess basic financial need and support required.
4. At no fee, Hope For The Warriors provides counseling, specifically psycho-educational counseling and therapy to the spouse, partner and family members during a hospital stay.
Since 2006, the Bob Woodruff Foundation has invested more than $35 million to find, fund and shape programs that have empowered more than 2.5 million impacted veterans, service members and their families.
