North Middle School’s Seventh and Eighth Grade Spring Instrumental and Choral Concert and Art Show will be held on Wednesday, May 17, at 77 Polo Rd.
The Annual Spring Art Exhibit Opening Reception will be held in the auditorium lobby at 7 p.m., prior to the concert. The art exhibit may also be viewed on Thursday, May 18, and Friday, May 19, during school hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibit will showcase works from the school’s varied courses, with a focus on creations from the most advanced classes, including Art Foundations (Art 9) and Studio Art 8. Art teachers are Elaine Brendel, department head, Keith Crowley, Kristin Kirleis and Sherry Teich.
The theme for the concert is a “Night of Broadway,” featuring music from hit Broadway shows, will be held in the Daniel J. Tomaselli Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
The band will perform selections from Aladdin and The Lion King.
The chorus will sing “Seize the Day” from Newsies,“For Good” from Wicked and selections from Finding Neverland.
The orchestra will perform songs from Fiddler on the Roof and “My Shot” from Hamilton.
The band and orchestra will combine to play Bizet’s “Farendole” and selections from Les Miserables.
The concert will conclude with chorus, band, and orchestra jointly performing “Finale B,” from Rent.
Band and orchestra are under the direction of Matthew Trinkwald, department head. Chorus is under the direction of Arielle Murdocco.
