On Oct. 25, a coalition of over 100 Long Island nonprofits, corporations and foundations is holding a kickoff rally for One Island Giving Day, a large fundraising effort with the goal of creating a stronger Long Island for ALL Long Islanders. The rally event will take place at The Space in Westbury (thespaceatwestbury.com) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The very next day, the One Island Giving Day fundraiser starts tallying donations at oneislandgiving.org with the hopes of reaching their goal of raising $1 million for LI nonprofits.
Local organizations, businesses, and community groups are coming together to challenge anyone and everyone who loves Long Island to unite and give to the local nonprofit of their choice. By tapping into the generous spirit of Long Islanders, the organization will raise awareness and resources for local needs and ensure the continued well-being of our people and communities.
“Our nonprofits fall across all issue areas. You can visit oneislandgiving.org and support the nonprofit of your choice,” says Devon Giordano, campaign director for One Island Giving Day, “We hope Long Islanders will make a donation and directly help the communities around them.”
Money raised will benefit nonprofits working in areas of need, including arts & culture, education, immigration, environment, children and families, healthcare, LGBT, civic engagement, and many others. Donors visiting oneislandgiving.org can search by topics to make a tax-deductible donation to the causes that matter most to them. For those looking to make a more general donation, a “Love Them All” option is also available. All money raised will be spent locally on Long Island.
The campaign is coordinated by The Hagedorn Foundation in partnership with area nonprofits.
