pjimage (6)

It’s freezing outside, and nothing warms your heart and home better than a new best furry friend.

Long Island shelters and rescue groups have tons of dogs and cats of all shapes, sizes and breeds that are just waiting to find their forever home. Read about some of the adorable animals that are available for adoption this week!

Due to current freezing temperatures and inclement weather, if you see an animal outside and in distress, please contact the NCSPA or local authorities right away! These weather conditions can be fatal for our furry friends!

French

Meet French! This handsome 3-year-old Van mix was rescued just in time from a local municipal shelter. French is happiest in a quiet environment as the only pet. He can be sensitive at times, but a cat-experienced human will know exactly what he needs to thrive: ear rubs and kindness! Please contact the North Shore Animal League at [email protected] for more information on adopting French.

dash 1
Dash

Dash is a 10-year-old healthy senior who has needed our loving care to mend his broken heart. After his owner passed away, he had a hard time adjusting to all the changes in his life, but with the help of his nurturing foster parents, he is responding to patience and consistency. Dash’s ideal home is a quiet one with no other cats or children under the age of 16 years and he has coexisted with dogs before.

If you have room in your heart to welcome a shy senior who craves being someone’s furry friend, please email dorits@animalleague to find out how you can meet this handsome guy and make him yours!

Available for adoption at The Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter:

Laney
Laney

If you are in search of a lovely lady, roughly 2-to-3 years old that will warm your heart and soul, meet Laney! Laney (reference #170110) has been at the Town of Oyster Bay Shelter since March of 2017, and staff and volunteers are unsure as to why! Found as a stray, Laney is a gorgeous and friendly pit mix who is adored by staff and would love nothing more than a home of her own. Why not head down for a meet-and-greet and see what everyone is raving about?!

For more information about adopting Laney, please call the Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter at (516) 677-5784.

Available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh:

reilly
Reilly

Sweet Reilly was rescued as a 5-week-old kitten when he was abandoned by his owner outside of his Deer Park house. Not sure who would do this to such a sweet kitty, but thankfully Reilly was rescued and now at approximately 6 months old, Reilly is ready to find a caring forever family to love. While Reilly has scarring from a bad eye infection when he was tiny, and probably some vision loss in that eye, neither issues seem to hamper his “purrsonality “.

Reilly is known as a sociable fellow who gets along with other cats. He shares a cat condo with his brother Kennedy who is also available at Last Hope.

For more information on adopting Reilly and/or Kennedy, or any of the wonderful animals available for adoption at Last Hope, please check out their website at lasthopeanimalrescue.org.

As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
