Student-athletes from Manhasset High School gathered in the gym with their parents for the official signing of their National Letters of Intent to the college or university they will be attending next fall.
From the Manhasset senior Class of 2018, 21 students have committed themselves with a national letter of intent. This document is a legally binding contract which state you are enrolling in a four year university for the first time. The National College Athletic Association manages the daily operation of the NLI program while the Collegiate Commissioners provide governance oversight of the program which started in 1964. The program has seven conference and eight independent institution and include 650 Division I and Division II participating institutions.
The Manhasset athletes who have signed these letters have played soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, crew, cross country and sailing. They will be attending American University, Boston College, Colgate University,Cornell University, DeSales University, Hobart College, Lafayette College, Long Island University, Marquette University, University of Connecticut, University of Delaware,University of Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, Union College and Vassar College.
On hand for the event to congratulated the student athletes were Superintendent of Manhasset Schools Dr. Vincent Butera, Manhasset High School Principal Dr. Dean Schlanger and Director of Athletics James Amen.
