It is said, in a democracy, every vote counts and that is definitely the case in the Manhasset Public Library Trustee election held on Wednesday, April 11, where the incumbent won by one vote.
The polls were open at 7 a.m. to allow for early morning commuters to cast their ballots and closed at 9 p.m. Two Manhasset residents were running for the open seat on the library board. Charles Jettmar was running for re-election against William Hannan and the vote was 137 to 136 in favor of the incumbent. Jettmar was reelected for a five year term.
The 2018-19 Library Budget passed with a vote of 209 to 70.
