Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) honored men and women for their achievements during the 26th Annual Adult Recognitions Awards Ceremony. Among the honorees were Farmingdale residents Danielle Joseph-McKay, Calease Phillips, Kellie Rutkowski, Suzie Hutter-Jockel, Klavdia Krieg, Yolanda Williams and Elaine Mignone.

Joseph-McKay, Phillips and Rutkowski were honored for the Hardscrabble unit Appreciation Pin, which recognizes an individual’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This service helps the council reach and surpass its mission-delivery goals.

A leader and membership organizer of the Hardscrabble service unit since 2011, Joseph-McKay dedicates her time to finding new and motivated volunteers, and is responsible for the startup of many new troops across Long Island.

As troop leader for Junior troop #3073 of Nassau County, Phillips also chairs several events for the service unit.

Rutkowski is a leader of both Junior troop #3616 and Cadette troop #3339. She is an active member of the service unit and handles cookies, mags and munchies for both of her troops.

During the awards, Jockel, Krieg and Williams were honored with the GSNC Spirit Award honoring volunteers known in their community for exemplifying the true spirit of Girl Scouting by presenting a positive role model, creating awareness in the community and creating innovative programming.

Hutter-Jockel has been a member of the Hardscrabble service unit for many years. She has been a leader, chair and mentor to many new and experienced troop leaders. With her knowledge about all things Girl Scouts, Hutter-Jockel is a Gold Award mentor at council guiding countless girls toward this achievement.

Involved in Girl Scouts for more than 14 years, Krieg never hesitates to share her ideas to help improve anything. She is on the HAGS award project proposal committee, and also ran the Holiday Caroling event for the Girl Scouts. Krieg has run two troops, the Association Rock Climbing and has served on the Girl Scouts delegation.

A leader of her daughter’s troops since 2008, Williams has been an active member of the Hardscrabble Service Team chairing several events and always willing to lend a hand.

Mignone received the Honor Pin, recognizing an individual’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. She has been the cookie manager for the GSNC Chorus since 2015, scheduling all booth sales, recruiting volunteers and donating her weekends to make these booth sales happen. Mignone helped the girls raise the funds needed for a trip to Savannah, GA, where they performed and allowed the girls to see and experience the birthplace of Girl Scouts.

The Hardscrabble Association appreciates the hard work and dedication of all of these volunteers.
