A two day demonstration is being held following the news of two lawsuits filed against North Shore University Hospital and Dr. Aaron Davidson alleging that Davidson has twice amputated portions of the glans (head) of the penis of two newborn boys.
The peaceful demonstration in front of North Shore University Hospital will take place Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 and Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local ‘intactivists’ will be there to raise public awareness of the harms of circumcision and alert parents about to birth boys at the hospital of the hospital’s unsafe circumcision practices.
Doctors Opposing Circumcision (DOC), a nonprofit organization of health professionals dedicated to ending the genital cutting of all children, has issued a statement questioning the hospital’s risk management and in particular its use of the Mogen clamp, a clamp that has a controversial reputation for resulting in amputations and which has been the subject of lawsuits, multimillion dollar jury awards and an FDA warning about its dangers.
