Hundreds of people from the gathered May 15 at the newly renovated Piermont in Babylon Village for the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition’s (BBCC) 21st Annual Chefs for a Cause fundraiser.
The evening was filled with raffle prizes, silent and live auction items, and delicious food and drinks donated from local restaurants and vendors within the community. The ballroom area was decorated with beautiful teal and pink, representing breast and gynecological cancer awareness colors. Local flower shops donated beautiful centerpieces for the charity event as well.
The BBCC is a grass-roots, volunteer-based nonprofit group that began by three friends sitting around a kitchen table in Babylon. it strives to raise breast and gynecological health awareness and support to those living with the stress of a cancer diagnosis. In 2007, the BBCC continued to expand from breast cancer finding an urgent and pressing need to include our community members diagnosed and currently being treated for gynecological cancer.
Their patient service program, Lend a Helping Hand, is the core of the nonprofit. It offers a variety of services to those undergoing breast and gynecological cancer treatments. These services include transportation to and from chemotherapy and radiation appointments, assistance with medical expenses, childcare, housecleaning, meals, and much more.
