Creative crafts for the season

We’re all thinking it! Where has the time gone? The clock is quickly ticking down to the holidays. What better way to slow down and savor the season than taking time to flex those creative muscles and get to crafting with the kids? These easy-to-make Christmas and Hanukkah crafts are not only a fun way to bond during the busy holiday season, they double as cheery last minute gifts that are made with love.

starStar of David Ornament

What you’ll need:

• Multi-colored craft Popsicle sticks
• Twine
• Glue gun

Steps:

1. Place glue dots on the ends of three sticks to create a triangle. Repeat this step to create two triangles.

2. Put triangles on top of each other to make a Star of David shape and glue the Popsicle sticks in place.

3. Glue on looped twine to create the ornament.

What you’ll need:

• Full size candy canes
• Pipe Cleaners
• Googly eyes
• Mini red pom poms
• Pipe cleaners
• Glue gun
• Thin ribbon

Steps:

1. Glue pom pom the curved end of the candy cane. Hold for 15 seconds.

2. Put a dot of glue on the back of two of the googly eyes. Place one eye above the pom pom nose press down lightly for 15 seconds. Do the same for the other eye. Give the glue a few minutes to dry.

3. Secure one pipe clean above the googly eyes so it’s at equal lengths on both sides.

4. Twist each side of the pipe cleaner around your finger (or a pen) to create curly antlers.

What you’ll need:

• White paper
• Craft scissors

Steps:

1. Start with a square piece of paper. (Martha Stewart’s tip for making the perfect square from a standard 8-by-11-inch sheet of paper is to fold paper into a right-angled triangle; trim off excess).

2. Fold paper in half diagonally to make a triangle.

3. Fold paper triangle in half so that the pointed corners meet.

4. Fold paper triangle in thirds, overlapping the left hand pointed corner over the triangle.

5. Overlap the right hand pointed corner over the triangle.

6. Trim the pointed ends.

7. Cut your folded paper with variations of cutouts.
