Representative Kathleen Rice Self-Quarantines Out Of Caution

As of the evening of March 18, Representative Kathleen Rice (4th Congressional District) has self-quarantined herself as a result of coming in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. She released this statement:

“I learned this evening that someone I was in contact with last Friday has tested positive for COVID-19. After consultation with the Attending Physician and out of an abundance of caution for those around me, I will be self-quarantining until Friday, March 27. I am currently not experiencing any symptoms and feel healthy and well.

“I am beyond thankful for those on the front lines of this crisis, particularly our healthcare workers. And I ask all who are reading this to take me seriously—these are difficult times and it often requires difficult decisions to keep ourselves apart from our loved ones. When in doubt, just listen to the advice of our medical professionals.”

Rice is not the only congressperson to be quarantining at this time. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida and Rep. Ben McAdams of Utah have tested positive for COVID-19 and are taking measures to prevent spreading the virus.
