Sweetgreen, a popular New York City lunch spot, is opening its second Long Island location on Nov. 1.

According to Sweetgreen’s website, the fast food chain started when three college students were searching for healthier ways to eat. The first Sweetgreen opened on Aug. 1, 2007 in Washington, D.C. Sweetgreen aims to “reimagine fast food for a new era.”

“That’s why we’re building a transparent supply network, why we cook from scratch, and why we’re building a community of people who believe in the power of real food,” Sweetgreen’s website states.

A grand opening is set for the Woodbury location at 7969 Jericho Tpke. on Tuesday, Nov. 1. For every meal purchased on the Woodbury location’s first day, Sweetgreen will donate one meal to Island Harvest, a Long Island food pantry that has been committed to hunger relief since 1992.

The opening will showcase the artwork of Aliyah Salmon, New York-based multidisciplinary textile artist whose series of four art pieces are on display at the new location. Opening day will also include live music and surprise giveaways.

In addition to its regular menu, Sweetgreen will have its fall menu available for customers, which includes Curry Cauliflower Bowl and Buffalo Cauliflower side dish with regionally sourced cauliflower from Turek Farm, as well as the Chicken and Brussels Bowl.
