Buckets 4 Beigel Basketball Tournament To Take Place Saturday

Beigel

In honor of the late Scott Beigel, the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund is hosting the annual “Buckets 4 Beigel Basketball Tournament” this Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m.

The event will take place at North Shore Day Camp located at 85 Crescent Beach Road in Glen Cove.

Scott Beigel, a Dix Hills native, was a geography teacher and cross-country coach at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. He tragically lost his life while shielding students from gunfire during the school shooting on Feb. 14, 2018. His bravery and sacrifice have been widely recognized. His heroic actions on that day led to his posthumous induction into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame.

The Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing camperships for at-risk, underserved children affected by gun violence to attend summer sleep-away camps.

The basketball tournament serves as a tribute to Beigel’s memory and a fundraiser to support the fund’s mission. Participants can expect a day filled with competition, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to honoring Beigel’s legacy of selflessness and compassion.
