Family & Children’s Association (FCA) Long Island’s leading health and human services nonprofit organization recently announced the addition of Kara Cannon, chief executive officer of Enzo Biochem, and John M. Dionisio, vice chairman of Global Infrastructure Solutions Inc., to the Board of Trustees.

“We’re so fortunate to welcome Kara and John to the Board of Trustees,” said FCA president and CEO Dr. Jeffrey L. Reynolds. “As Long Islanders they’re familiar with the growing challenges of the region and are committed to helping us make a difference right here at home.”

Board chair Drew S. Crowly added, “Kara and John are a welcomed addition to our board. Their extensive careers and backgrounds will bring new perspective and I look forward to working with them.”

Kara Cannon is the chief executive officer of Enzo Biochem, a publicly traded life sciences company with global operations. She has over 30 years of experience in the life sciences industry at Enzo Biochem, Pall Corporation, and Dynal Corporation. Her technical expertise and ability to connect international teams have delivered powerful results throughout her career.

Ms. Cannon is passionate about fostering talent for the future. She serves on the Board of Directors for New York Bio and the Foundation Board for Farmingdale State College and is an advisor to the School of Health Professions at the New York Institute of Technology. Dedicated to using her expertise to build the next generation of life sciences leaders, she is also a founding member of a New York-based mentoring program for life sciences entrepreneurs affiliated with Stony Brook University.

Her career achievements have been repeatedly recognized as one of the Top 50 Long Island Most Influential Women in Business and as one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in Biotechnology. Ms. Cannon resides in Massapequa.

John M. Dionisio is the co-founder and vice chairman of Global Infrastructure Solutions Inc. (GISI), a privately-owned business that invests in and helps grow engineering and construction management companies. GISI firms include the Structure Tone Organization, the largest privately held U.S. construction management company. Its most recent Long Island project is the construction of a new engineering building at Hofstra University. The LiRo Group, another GISI firm, recently completed work on the Grand Central Long Island Rail Road station and is currently completing new terminal projects at JFK Airport.

A professional engineer for more than 50 years, John joined AECOM, a global engineering company, fresh out of college and worked there for 45 years, retiring as Chairman and CEO in 2015. During his tenure, AECOM doubled its workforce and tripled its revenue to $10 billion, while expanding its service offerings and geographic reach.

In 2008, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers. Married for over 51 years, he and his wife Rose reside in Garden City.

John M. Dionisio said, “I am truly grateful to be a part of an organization whose mission it is to protect and strengthen Long Island’s most vulnerable.”
