The following are the results of recent school districts’ 2024-2025 budget votes and board elections in our area, as provided by the school districts. Districts whose budgets did not pass will vote again on June 18.
In the Westbury School District, next year’s budget passed with 351 votes in favor and 60 votes against. Board of Education candidates Dr. Pless Dickerson and Michelle Wilson were elected with 326 votes and 307 votes, respectively.
In the Herricks Union Free School District, the budget passed with 1,632 votes in favor and 956 against. Board of Education trustee candidates Maria Bono and Shaheda Quraishi were elected with 1502 votes and 1147 votes, respectively. Brian Hassan received 874 votes; Eric Lo received 569 votes; Ravinder Ratra received 473 votes; Russell Stuart received 288 votes; Surendra Gupta received 184 votes.
In the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District, the budget passed with 434 votes in favor and 263 votes against. School board trustees Danielle Fagan and Binu Jacob were elected with 489 votes and 322 votes, respectively, after running unopposed.
In the Sewanhaka Central High School District, the budget passed with 3,960 votes in favor and 1,570 votes against.
In the Floral Park-Bellerose Union Free School District, the budget passed with 1,113 votes in favor and 469 against. Proposition No. 2 passed with 1,224 votes in favor and 363 votes against. Board of Education candidates Michele Vincent and Jaclyn O’Donohue were elected with 862 votes each. Beth Kierez received 641 votes; Linda Grein received 658 votes.
In the Carle Place School District, the budget passed with 843 votes in favor and 238 votes against. Proposition 2 passed with 844 votes in favor and 192 against.
Board of Education candidates Patrick Dunphy and Jacqueline DaTorre were elected with 733 votes and 495 votes, respectively. Joe LoCurto received 466 votes; Neal McLaughlin received 235 votes; Ryan Nordman received 92 votes.
In the Garden City Union Free School District, the budget passed with 1,125 votes in favor and 311 votes against. Board of Education trustees Joseph Sileo and Kristen Pappas were elected with 1,004 votes and 851 votes, respectively.
In the Mineola Union Free School District, the budget was passed with 547 votes in favor and 153 votes against. Proposition 2 was passed with 576 votes in favor and 121 votes against. Board of Education candidates Stacey DeCillis and Brian Widman were elected with 572 votes and 544 votes, respectively, after running unopposed.
